Congratulations to the team: Kate, Emma, Bailee, Sahil, Sandeep, Tarun, Yana, Nakul, Siona, Makalyn, Ella, and Madeline. This spring the Woodlands Warriors, 12U Intermediate, won their local division and were awarded an opportunity to attend the Junior Team Tennis Championships in Florence, SC. Two weekends ago the Woodlands Warriors won the State Championship and will be moving on to Rome, Georgia in August to compete in Sectionals. Players at Sectionals will consist of teams from the Southern Section (9 states) – SC, NC, GA, TN, LA, MS, KY, AR, and AL. This team is based on friendship, caring, supporting, and trusting their teammates. All players except for two have been together for 4 years. Diversity makes this a strong, united team. Why should this be mentioned? They are truly friends and tennis, without question, has created inclusiveness and a bond. I know- I am their coach (Sarah Stewart) and they also have two male, role-model coaches that are just unbelievable. Christian Fallaw and Josh McMillin knew nothing about tennis, but have become two of the best tennis coaches in the tennis community. I am honored to work with two fine dads and mentors to this team. Their dedication and their voice to the parents have been extremely important. This has become a part-time job without pay. 🙂 Woodlands Country Club is and should be honored to have these players. I hope you will congratulate these players when you see them. They represented Woodlands with sportsmanship, respect to officials, and with their tennis skills. -Sarah Stewart (Director of Junior Tennis) |
